The year is pretty much over! But I’m posting my December faves a tad early this month as I want Christmas Day onwards to just be about relaxing and watching It’s A Wonderful Life and eating Lindt chocolate balls. And y’know, waiting for this baby of mine to turn up.
Saying that I do have a few things scheduled, so do check back for my “Amazing Moments Of 2018” roundup and a couple of pregnancy posts!
Ok, now where were we… Ah yes, December.
December Faves
This Month I’m Attending… The Christmas Lights Switch On
At the beginning of the month I kicked off Christmas festivities by going to the Stony Stratford Christmas Lights Switch On, one of my fave local events.
Unlike most Christmas Lights Switch-Ons, this one just feels very authentic and festive and just very local. There are no celebs or fancy displays, just village fete stalls, a bit of local music, pubs selling mulled wine and the same Christmas lights that have been there for decades
There’s also the annual Christmas Lantern Parade where families walk down the street with the lit-up lanterns that they’ve made. It’s pretty funny to spot the original ones. I mean some people do Christmas trees, some do the DeLorean from Back To The Future. Each to their own.
This Month I’m Also Attending… All The Christmas Parties!
I mean, I think this is everyone’s December, right? Lots of parties and roast dinners?!
I started with my work Christmas party with its annual awards ceremony and 3 course dinner and dancing. But to be honest it’s really not as fun when you can’t indulge in the open bar.
Then I had my tradition of having a Christmas meal with my best friends, where we do Secret Santa and catch up and just have a swell time. This year we went to The Swan Inn in MK Village and the food was top notch. Would recommend to any locals.
But both events I ended up going home early this year. I think that’s allowed at 9 months pregnant… But still, I had fun and I really do have a great group of pals.
This Month I’m Celebrating… My Baby Shower!
I had my baby shower this month!
My closest friends and family threw me a little party at my house and completely spoiled me and the baby. Seriously, this girl has so many presents and so many amazing people that love her already.
We also had nibbles and looked at baby pictures of us and played some games. Oh and there was cake! So I mean, a pretty successful afternoon!
This Month I’m Watching… American Horror Story
Ok, not remotely Christmassy. I’m also very late to the party with this one. But despite really hating the horror genre in general, I seem to have jumped head first into American Horror Story and binged the first three seasons in a couple of weeks!
I have no idea what has brought on this change of pace – maybe the baby likes horror shows?!
Anyway, it’s really good and I love that every season is so different. Definitely give it a go if you’re looking for a new Netflix show to watch.
This Month I’m Wearing… A Sparkly Maternity Party Dress
I didn’t want to splurge on partywear this year. I mean, let’s face it, I’m huge. And I didn’t want to spend loads of money on clothes that I won’t ever wear again.
So I bought this sparkly long-sleeved dress from Boohoo and proceeded to wear it for all events! No shame. I did try to change up hair and earrings and bags though just to attempt to look slightly different. But yes, all versions did accompany my faux-DMs from ASOS. What ya gonna do.
This Month I’m… Going On Maternity Leave
I can’t believe it’s finally time to leave work and have this baby already! It feels completely surreal.
But a lot of my month has been about getting my handover done at work and getting all of my ducks in a row before leaving. It’s kind of a weird feeling because I really like my job and I think leaving it, even for a short amount of time, makes me feel a bit uneasy.
It’s ok because my company are really the best and gave me a lovely send-off. But I made sure everyone knew – “I’m definitely coming back!”
What’s Happening Next Month?
Erm yeah, no big deal, but next month involves BIRTHING A BABY INTO THIS WORLD.
Lol, got to laugh.I’m not sure there will be much more going on in my world. I may just skip January faves actually in favour of a Birth Story… But who knows, watch this space, kiddo.
