I did that thing I do every summer. I was so busy with trips and weekends away and general merriment, that I totally forgot to keep up with these faves posts. So we have a May and June combined post today. I mean, what ya gonna do?

This Month I’m Wearing… Monki Shell Jumpsuit
Monki are such an underrated brand and their jumpsuits are really the one. I bought this green shell-print baby before I went to Edinburgh and it’s so incredibly comfortable that I’ve since taken it to Northern Ireland and Helsinki and worn it to a few social events. I mean I’ve probably massively overdone it and will not want to wear it for the rest of the summer, but it’s a gem and has definitely convinced me to buy more pieces from Monki! (Plus it was only £35. Banger.)
This Month I’m Also Wearing… Rocketdog Platforms
I know this blog is called Heels In My Backpack but I’m gonna be real with you for a second. I don’t really wear heels all that often any more. In my defence I created this blog in my early twenties and now I’m 30 and CBA. But, platforms really give me the best of both worlds so I’m a fan.
I was gifted these white Rocketdog Zuma platforms and I think they look cool with culottes and a tee. Oh and they’re only £29 in the sale – go, go, go!
This Month I’m Staying At… Chicheley Hall
The babes at Chicheley Hall invited me for a night away at the beginning of the month. This manor house is where they filmed Pride & Prejudice and is all kinds of fancy. It’s actually a popular wedding venue so it was cool for Josh and I to take a look around and get some more ideas about what we want. And we got a chance to stay in the Bridal Suite which was lovely!
We actually want something a bit more informal for our wedding I think, but it was a really nice way to have a date night, enjoying the restaurant in the hotel and wandering the grounds. And there were PEACOCKS. All round, a lovely stay.
This Month I’m Reading… Rock N Roll Bride
As soon as I got engaged a few people on Instagram recommended Rock N Roll Bride to me. I took one look and immediately set up a subscription to this alternative weddings magazine!
It’s given me so much inspo for my wedding and is really all about doing things how you want to do them on your big day. Don’t want to wear white? Don’t. Want to elope to Vegas? Do it. I absolutely love the philosophy behind it – there are no wedding diets or pressures that you find in other bridal mags, it’s all about celebrating your marriage the way you want to. I’m just obsessed.
This Month I’m Famous… On the Virgin Experience Days Voucher!
I love doing Virgin Experience Days and wrote about my Chilli Afternoon Tea at the beginning of the year. Well they got in touch and asked if I would mind them using one of my photos on the new vouchers! So look, there’s my ugly mug!
This Month I’m Using… SheaMoisture Texture Spray
One of my faves in the beauty realm this summer is this SheaMoisture Texture Spray. I’m a little bit shit at hair products and like everything to be low maintenence, y’know? But this spray is perfect for that. I just give damp hair a spritz and a scrunch for a casual wavy look (without my hair feeling crunchy or sticky). Although I have to be careful not to scrunch too much to avoid the dreaded frizz!
This Month I Smell Like… Philosophy’s Amazing Grace Perfume
Another beauty babe for ya, I was gifted Philosophy’s new perfumes this week – Amazing Grace Ballet Rose and Pure Grace Nude Rose. They’re both really girly and floral, which tbh I didn’t think that was my bag. I thought I was more of a spicy, heady fragrance kinda gal. But actually I’m really digging smelling a lil girly for a change. Maybe it’s the summer vibes and ongoing heatwave? Dunno, but I like it.
