5 Things I Want From A Holiday Rental

by

These days, with the likes of AirBnb and Home Away on the scene, holiday rentals are a pretty big deal. So it’s no surprise that there’s a new player on the scene called HundredRooms which compares deals from around the world on holiday rentals, from fab city apartments to villas in exotic locations.

Well they got in touch to ask me what I look for in a holiday rental and it’s actually really good timing as I’m curently on the hunt for somewhere to spend my 30th birthday with my bestest pals! So I’m all over that.

Here’s my wishlist, folks!

Holiday Rental Essentials

1) WiFi

I know, I know, you’re not on holiday to look at your phone for a week. (Although some of us are guilty of it…) But WiFi is a must-have for me. Not just for blog stuff, but because I like to see what restaurants in the area have good reviews, or what events are going on in the city I’m in. Or you know, if it’s a big group of you, to stream music!

It’s definitely a must.

2) Unusual Features

Something I love about choosing a holiday rental property over a hotel or hostel, is that you get the chance to stay somewhere unique. Somewhere with real character and unusual features, you know? Like staying in a treehouse in France, a lighthouse in Ireland or a riad in Morocco… The possibilities are endless!

I definitely always try to stay somewhere exciting like this over a basic villa situation. Especially when they’re not normally that much more expensive! And sometimes it can make the holiday!

3) Common Areas for Groups

Like I said, I’m on the hunt for a group holiday at the moment, so it’s important for me to be able to have some communal areas that we can all hang out in. So I’m currently looking for properties that have big living areas, large dining tables or games rooms with pool tables, you know?

It’s even better if there’s some kind of pool/hot tub. Just saying.

4) Fantastic Location

What I like about this kind of thing, is that you end up being able to afford really good locations, in the centre of a city for example. Like when I stayed in a cool apartment in Brooklyn, NYC or that chic loft in Amsterdam last year. Location definitely has a big impact on your trip and is something I always consider when filtering results on these kind of websites.

5) A Decent Price!

The main draw? The price!! I love being able to get more for my money, so this comparison website by HundredRooms is right up my street!

  1. We have a lovely thatched cottage in Southeast Ireland, sympathetically renovated that might spark your unusual place to stay interest. Check it out on stawaries.com and let us know what you think and if it might be worth a visit…. regards Fiona
