Oops, I missed November Faves because hello Australia and adventure and road trips and kangaroos and timtams. But it’s ok, this is a roundup of the things I’ve quite liked in November AND December. Ok, let’s go.
Christmas Lights
Holy macaroni, it’s Christmas. When the hell did that happen? All of a sudden the beautiful lights are everywhere and living on a High Street means I get a gorgeous glimpse of colourful lights through my window every night. I love it.
But my first Christmassy experience this year was actually the Regents Street lights switch-on in November. The lovely people at Superdry invited me to a press event at their Regents Street store overlooking the big event outside. I’ve been to these things before where you watch a couple of performances, see the lights go on and then stumble through the crowds to get to the tube. But it was so much better from the Superdry building! I watched Tom Odell and Rebecca Ferguson from the comfort of a warm room with a slice of pizza and a glass of prosecco. YES.
I also got to try out icing some Christmas biscuits with the people from Biscuiteers. You may remember from my Christmas in London Bucketlist last month that I’ve wanted to do this for AGES! It was a lot of fun and delicious too.
I also got a look at some of the fabulous party wear pieces Superdry have got going on right now. I even bagged one for my Christmas party, get a load of this slice of sequinned gorgeousness!
Iron-on Patches
Iron-on patches are having a bit of a moment right now. On jeans, on jackets, they’re pretty on-trend. So I’ve become a lil addicted at buying my own patches on Amazon to customise my travel gear. Because why not right?
Especially since I lost my backpack coming back from Oz when someone walked off with it thinking it was hers. Every patch counts!
I’ve customised my toiletries bag with a ‘K’ so far, which I think is super cute. But watch this space for more of my creations!
WTM
You may remember that my experience last year at WTM was super successful – I bagged a trip to Bali, no biggie. So even though I only had a half day of annual leave left I made sure I used it at WTM this year. Although given the time it took me to get into London town, sadly that meant only 2 hours of walking around London’s Excel centre throwing my business card at tourism boards.
Alas no trips in the bag as of yet but it’s still a lot of fun to explore the different stands, watch traditional dancing and try global delicacies!
Although I did get asked for some details by a WTM worker for possible opportunities and then it turned out he just wanted my number to ask me out. Ugh, I hate that. I just want press tips, dude.
Jo Malone Travel Exclusive
Oh you know how obsessed I am with those kickass beauty sets you can only buy in duty free? Well hey, here’s another I’ve got my mitts on.
I feel super sassy owning anything by Jo Malone because hey it’s pretty pricey and reserved for the ultra sophisticated, but now I’m obsessed with the Mimosa and Cardamom fragrance! It’s quite spicy and masculine but I really dig that kind of thing. Can’t stop smelling my wrists. That’s weird isn’t it?
Airport Beauty Treatments
Speaking of Jo Malone, a little birdie told me they do complimentary hand and arm massages at their store in Gatwick Departures. So obvs I went to go try it out.
And oh wow, it was delightful. Definitely go do it if you’re there. It’s only a quick 5 minutes whilst the nice lady tells you about the different Jo Malone products but it completely relaxed me before starting my ridiculous 24 hour journey down under.
Although be warned, they are real good at selling this stuff and you may walk out £40 poorer. Easily done, no judgement.
Road Trips
After my campervan trip along the Great Ocead Road recently, I’ve remembered how much I love overland travel. It’s not something I do that much of anymore as I’m normally limited on annual leave days and let’s face it, it’s quicker to fly between destinations.
But road trips just make me feel GOOD.
It’s the freedom and the fact that you’re in control of the journey. Plus the off the beaten track places you get to discover in-between. I definitely need to think about another road trip I want to do in 2017 because they’re just swell.
Cadburys Top Deck
I was super excited to go back to Australia, purely to get a fix of my fave Aussie treats. My main girl being a big ol’ slab of Cadbury’s Top Deck. If you haven’t heard of it it’s cadbury’s chocolate with each square topped with white Dream chocolate. Remember Dream? Ahhh it’s heaven in a wrapper…
There you have it. My faves in the months of November and December 2016! Anything that’s tickled your fancy this month? Tell me all about it in the comments below or tweet me @HeelsInBackpack!
