I’ve been wanting to visit The Cotswolds for a while now. And since reading about Log House Holidays earlier in the year, I made it my mission to book myself into one of their cosy cabins for a wintery weekend getaway.
Better yet, I got all my fave blogger babes together for the trip! So Sophie, Ellie, Sam, Liv and I headed to the Kaisers Kabin log house last week for cosy nights with blankets and mulled-wine flavoured tea and fun-filled days on the lake.
And there may have been a glass of prosecco or two.
Oh and the best thing about going on these log cabin holidays in December is that they’re decorated to the nines with Christmas trees and decorations!
So it was such a festive weekend and I am officially psyched for Christmas now.
The cabin itself was the perfect size for the 5 of us with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one of which had the dreamiest roll-top bath under a skylight. Baths goals all day.
But it was also super cosy, with a toasty woodburning fire, luxury bedding and under floor heating. So despite the freezing temperatures outside, it was always warm in our pretty little cabin. Which is a real must for me because I always feel the cold.
Plus it came with a super cute red Victorian spiral staircase and nice little touches like a pouch of lavender on your pillow.
But my absolutely favourite thing about Kaisers Kabin was the amazing views. Waking up to a view of the lake at sunrise from our bedroom balcony was just everything.
We then started the day with a home-cooked breakfast in our fully-stocked kitchen, which is just the best thing about self-catering. You can eat what you want and usually on a budget.
And because we are fancy AF and living the high life in The Cotswolds, we then took a dip in our own private hot tub after breakfast.
Yep, OUR OWN PRIVATE HOT TUB.
This place is basically heaven.
And hot tubs just feel even better when it’s cold out and it’s all steamy and cosy. Such a dream.
Isn’t this just the best way to spend a Saturday morning though? I could get used to this. I could literally feel all the stress of the week ease away.
I think that was the main thing, that it was just so quiet and peaceful, y’know?
And despite only having a short period of time there (I had to leave early for a family party in London), being by the lake made me feel completely refreshed. Normally being around people all the time drains my energy, but this trip had the complete opposite effect.
I imagine the lake itself is gorgeous throughout the year, in the height of summer and when the colours are changing in Autumn. But I’m really glad we visited in winter. With the low sun and icy lake, it just felt so calming and tranquil.
There’s also a loop of the lake you can walk for pretty views and getting a bit of fresh air and all that. V outdoorsy in The Cotswolds.
One of my favourite things to do on our girly getaway though was getting out on the lake.
Every cabin gets it’s own row boat, so the 5 of us rowed out to the lake for pretty views of our cabin, lots of cool wildlife and obvs to dance to “I’m on a boat” like absolute gangsters.
It was fun but I did get a bit worried when we rowed into ice that crunched against the boat! Knowing my luck, we’d sink…
Oh and I definitely need to get to the gym because rowing this thing took some serious muscle.
If you’re a bit more adventurous than I am, there were also some stand-up paddle boards and kayaks you could use on the lake. But nah, not in -3 temps, babes. I think that could be pretty cool in warmer months though.
And of course, I really enjoyed spending more time with my fave blogging gals. We did a lil secret santa present-swap, had a nice dinner together catching up on all our travels and listened to the Heart Christmas radio station for the entire time we were there to get as festive as poss.
They’re such a lovely bunch so def go follow them if you’re not already.
Plus, it’s really helpful to have friends that get that you would like approx 746 photos of you in the hot tub. K thanks.
Overall, I enjoyed my Log House Holidays trip in The Cotswolds way more than I thought I would. Like, I had expected it to be cosy and fun but I hadn’t expected it to be so relaxing!
I already want to go back. Like, now.
I think this would be perfect for friends or family wanting to get away, get a bit outdoorsy and totally relax. And it’s a bloody dream at Christmas time. Go on, you know you want to.
