Clinique really is the holy grail of skincare. We all know it. We kid ourselves into thinking other skincare brands are just as fabulous but there’s nothing quite like when you treat yourself to something at the Clinique counter and have a little skip in your step as you trot away with the little white bag.
So imagine my absolute glee at arriving home to a big white bag on my doorstep last week. Lots of Clinique for me to try! Hooray!
You see Clinique do these cute little Travel Exclusive sets that they sell at duty-free that they thought I would really dig. And they weren’t wrong. You know I love a little self-indulgence when I’m in Departures and I told you the other week that I loved the L’Oreal Red Carpet set I got on my Geneva trip. So this is right up my street.
Clinique Travel Exclusives
Moisture Surge Water Bottle
First up is the Moisture Surge Water Bottle. This little peachy beaut is designed to be everything you need to keep you and your skin hydrated on a flight. I mean first there’s the actual bottle which is a pretty neat idea. You can fill up with water at the airport and take on the flight, ideal.
Then there’s the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. Well actually, there’s three of them. This moisturiser is just lovely. The kind of moisturiser you use and your skin immediately feels like silk. DREAM. I mean, you’re not going to use three of them on the flight, but I like that they’ve put in three of something you actually want rather than two other random products that you’re never going to use. Which is sometimes the case with these kind of beauty sets.
The next product is the Clinique All About Eyes gel. A lil dab of this baby under your eyes and you’ll look fresh as a daisy when you get off the flight. I’ve actually used this one before and it definitely reduces puffiness so that’s pretty cool.
Then there’s the Clinique Superbalm Moisturising Gloss and the Clinique High Impact Mascara in little travel sized versions. Now I admit I’m more about the skincare in this set but both make-up additions are pretty handy if you want to board a flight make-up free but want to look half-decent the other side. I’m not really a gloss girl. Something about growing up around the millennium means I can’t really go there again. But you’ve got to admit a slick of gloss and a quick application of mascara are going to make you feel better in your destination. And being travel-sized means they are preferable to packing your whole make-up bag in your hand luggage, right?
I’ve gotta say, this little set is pretty cool as a duty-free purchase. It’s indulgent enough to feel like a treat but super practical for flying so you don’t really feel like you’ve bought something extravagant. Plus, if you’re travelling hand luggage only, all products are under 100ml so you’ll be able to bring them home again. I like this set, for sure.
Non-Stop Looks Palette
The other Clinique Travel Exclusive I’ve received is one of the ‘Non-Stop Looks’ palettes. A lovely little compact with some make-up inside. I’m trying out the ‘London’ palette but they are also available in ‘Tokyo’ and ‘New York’. The palette includes 6 Clinique eye shadow shades, a blusher and some brushes to put them on with, obvs.
Now before I’ve even tried the products, I’ll tell you straight off the bat what I like about this palette – the super wide mirror. I struggle to use compact sets usually because the mirror is too small and doesn’t always stay where you put it. It’s just a struggle. Well this bad boy is massive and clear and stays where you put it. Result.
Ok how about the actual make-up. The blusher in Bashful Blush is actually a good shade for me but I gotta say, there’s no way I can apply blusher with the tiny blusher brush. I just think blusher should be applied with a full brush so you can really sweep it across you’re cheeks for even coverage. The tiny blusher brush is a bit difficult to get it right, you know? Just personal preference, babes.
I do like that the eyeshadows come with two applicators though. There’s the normal one you always get with eyeshadows, like a flat cotton bud, but there’s also a mini brush. You definitely need both if you want a smokey eye so mad props to Clinique for including both.
In terms of colours, I managed to create two looks with this palette, you can either go for a smokey gold or a smokey purple look. The gold one uses Latte as a base with the Tarnish Gold shadow across the lid and the darker Moss around the eyelid crease and in the outer corners. The purple look uses the Twilight Mauve shade as a base, with Truffle across the lid and the darker purple Stormy in the crease and corner. Works a treat. I’ve never managed to do that before, use ALL the colours in a palette. So there’s that.
Granted this one isn’t really FOR travelling, but it’s nice to know you can get a cool set at duty-free for when you’re out there right?
Overall two little travel treats for a bit of duty-free self-indulgence! I’ll be checking out the other Non-Stop Looks palettes and hello that Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief is an absolute keeper.
