PLUS Florence is one of those fancier hostels that makes you feel like you’re staying in a swish hotel rather than a backpacker hostel. Especially in somewhere fabulous like Florence.
I stayed at PLUS Florence for one night as part of my Italy trip earlier in the month and it was just a dream. I’ll start off by telling you straight off the bat that it has a swimming pool, gym, spa, steam room and sauna. I told you it was fancy.
The rooms themselves are very clean, tidy and hotel-like, with lockers and reading lights in the dorms. I opted for a double room rather than a dorm room as I was ‘going all out in Florence’ and it was pretty slick.
In fact the entire hostel is pretty slick and professional. I really just love a hostel that has good graphic design theme in place. Weird thing to appreciate, right?
Free WiFi sitch? It has it. So check that one off. Also the Reception staff are really helpful and provide all guests with a free map of the city. And Florence is easy to lose your bearings in, so it was very much appreciated.
The social area is cool too with an open plan bar area, games area and restaurant. As this is at the fancy end of the hostel scale, the clientele seem to be less of the carefree backpacker variety and more families and people of all ages. So it’s more of a chilled vibe than a party hostel. But they have a pretty good happy hour with a €6 bottle of red on offer. So the night is what you make it!
Location-wise, PLUS Florence is accessible to the whole city, with the Duomo area about a 10 minute walk away.
Also, the rooftop terrace has fabulous views of Florence. Even though it was raining on my visit, it still had pretty impressive views.
Finally, my favourite thing about PLUS Florence, is that they have created rooms especially for girls. ‘PLUS Girls‘ provides larger bathrooms, hairdryers, straighteners and a free wellness pack! That’s what we want, right? Love this, it’s such an awesome idea.
Overall, a top hostel that I wouldn’t definitely stay at again!
PLUS Hostels also have locations in Rome, Venice, Prague and Berlin, and you check them out here. Prices start from €21 a night in an 8 bed dorm.
