Another travel journal review! I know guys, I can’t help it I just love them.
This one struck my fancy as I really loved the The World Awaits, A Travel Organiser by Kate Pocrass that I reviewed a few months ago (see full post here). And I Was Here promised a truck load more of quirky illustrations and pretty pictures.
SImilar to the Ramble & Rove travel journal I reviewed last week, this handy little book is all about tasking you with weird and wonderful activities to make the most of your travels. From fairly understandable things such as reviewing the new dishes you’ve tried, through to mildly insane activities such as jotting down conversations you’ve overheard, taking rubbings of cool textures you encounter and even smudging a page with whatever you are drinking. I know, it’s pretty random.
That’s all part of this travel journal’s charm. It’s all about creativity and looking at the destination you’re in a little differently. And while you’re at it, there are plenty of the cool illustrations I was looking forward to from Kate Pocrass.
I think you’ll agree, it’s a pretty quirky and fun little book. This is definitely something that would keep me entertained when travelling solo. I always have days when I’m at a loose end and the activities in this book are an unusual way to pass an afternoon in a new city! I mean who doesn’t want to search out and take photos of their favourite fonts in signage?
Also, my fave page is dedicated to taking a census record with the new people you meet. I really do want to know what everyone spreads on toast.
This bad boy is £10.99 and you can get yours here or on Amazon here…

My friend was given one of these. I had a little look through it and I think there are some great ideas in it! 🙂
Definitely creative!
Filled with appealing illustrations and unexpected inspirations, this quirky journal is sure to bring out the adventurer in every traveler. Kate Pocrass is a San Francisco-based artist whose work has been exhibited in venues throughout the world.
This looks so cute – I really want to get it for my next trip :- Great pics!
