About

Alright lads? I’m Kara, a 30-something ex-Londoner, now-Milton-Keynes-massive, and I like writing about my travel adventures and life as a millennial mama.

I started this little ol’ blog of mine in 2012, writing about the ways of girly backpacking. Read: stashing heels in my backpack (geddit?), being the girl in the hostel dorm room that brought the straighteners and finding multiple uses for a sarong.

But before I knew it, I was a chump with a real job and a boyfriend and megalolz I had swapped the bright lights of London Town for the roundabouts and concrete cows of sunny Milton Keynes. So I got adventure where I could find it, fitting fun European city breaks and exotic trips around my 9-5 in the fashion industry. It’s around this time my little blog got a little bigger. I had this post go viral and my Instagram picked up a load of followers, and before I knew it, my hobby was my side hustle. Oh and I was lucky enough to work with some kickass brands like Trek America, YHA, Marco Polo, Virgin Experience Days and Superdry. Pretty neat, huh?

Now, things are a little different again. Since hitting my thirties, my boyfriend has become my fiance, we bought our first house and created an actual tiny human in the form of my yes-I’m-biased-but-she’s-so-freaking-adorable daughter, Indiana. I’m SUCH a grown-up now, right? I’m currently navigating the world of family travel and learning how exhausting it is to entertain a baby on a flight.

Times have changed but some things never do. I always make time to travel and have an insatiable need for adventure. I write as a weird kind of therapy, so you’ll find posts about whatever chapter of life I’m going through – existential crisis, turning thirty, pregnancy, motherhood, etc. And my go-to snack will always be a cheese toastie with Cholula hot sauce.

  3. Hi Kara,

Love your blog. Just been reading the signs you’ve backpacked in south east Asia , made me chuckle and brought back fab memories. Please tell me who did your website. I have WordPress and can’t use it, too hard. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

    Best wishes
    Louise
