August Faves 2017

by

Here we go chaps, the weird and wonderful delights tickling my fancy throughout the month of August 2017. Granted, there’s been no travel this month, but that does mean I’ve had time to discover new things in the other areas of my life. Fashion and food, books and beauty, this month really had it all!

August Faves 2017

Kickass ASOS Ankle Boots

I debuted my Autumn ankle boots in August. It doesn’t sound right. But with the rainy, grey days we’ve had this month, it was completely warranted.

I found these leather beauties in the ASOS sale down to £29 from £65! Absolute bargain, right? Plus they’re bloody beautiful with the gorgeous Western detail in metallic purple. I bloody love them. (Shop them over here)

Brunch at Bourne & Hollingsworth

It’s becoming a bit of thing, going to brunch in London with some of my fave bloggers – Sophie, Sam, Ellie & Liv. Well this month we headed to Bourne & Hollingsworth in Clerkenwell for our lil blog squad meet-up. Plus I got to meet Aftab who came along too! I really love hanging out with this group, they’re total babes.

But anyway, B&H was really lovely, I loved that it almost felt like a greenhouse inside with the plants and wicker furniture! Although it felt completely different to their cocktail bar in the West End which I’ve visited before. Much more light and airy.

I had the drop scones with bacon and maple syrup from their brunch menu, plus an elderflower cocktail and everything was spot on *insert thumbs up emoji*.

Tangle Teezer

Ok lol, I know I’m real late to the party on this, but how freaking amazing are tangle teezers?!

Yeah I know, they’re so 2011. But seriously, I can’t get over how great they are. I got one in my goody bag at the Blogosphere Magazine Blog Awards and oh boy, it’s here to stay. Seriously, it can untangle my hair in like a tenth of the time of a regular brush. Win.

Big Magic

I know I”m reading the Game of Thrones books at the moment, but because they’re taking me so long to finish, every now and then I throw a rogue book in the mix, just to spice up my book life, you know?

So my wild card book choice this month was Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert (off of Eat Pray Love). I had no idea what to expect from it, being in the self-help genre or books. But actually it was incredibly inspiring and whimsical and relatable. I’m completely pumped to get cracking on some ideas I have, before they run away and find someone else to do them…

Gosh, it’s just a great book.

The Leftovers

I really plough through TV series when I’m not travelling. I’m not sure that that’s how I should spend any extra time I have, but it’s just how I relax, okay?

Well one of the TV series I’ve been obsessed with this month is The Leftovers. It’s weird watching a show that’s already finished because when you binge it, it’s kinda like watching one long film. But anyway, I really enjoyed the leftovers. It’s VERY weird and the whole way through I was just like “WTF is happening”. Seriously, I said that out loud a few times.

But it’s addictive and original and definitely like nothing else I’ve watched. Plus there’s the eye candy that is Justin Theroux.

Authentic Greek Food at The Athenian

On one of my little jaunts to London this month, I got to try out some AMAZING authentic Greek food from The Athenian. They have a few restaurants in London and Bristol but whilst I was gallivanting in Shoreditch, I tried out their site at Boxpark.

Boxpark is a little weird because it’s kinda like an upmarket/hipster food court. Just lots of different mini restaurants and long wooden tables in between them to eat your dinner. I mean I liked it though, just a bit different with lots of people and art everywhere.

Anyway, I had the chicken souvlaki with halloumi and it came with a bunch of fries, salad and tzatziki. And it was SO GOOD. And really cheap at just over £7, considering how much food you got! Great shout if you’re looking for cheap eats in East London!

There you have it, my new discoveries in the month of August 2017 (despite the terrible weather…).

Total Blogger Transparency: I enjoyed a complimentary meal at The Athenian and the tangle teezer was a press sample. However all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. I wouldn’t play you like that, shorty.

  1. I second the Athenian, had the Souvlaki (via deliveroo, don’t judge) in Bristol! Currently reading Big Magic and have been waiting for the final GoT book for about three years now – books are better IMO (but I haven’t watched it either, also don’t judge) 🙂
