Two Pretty Summer Dresses I Can’t Get Enough Of

by

Okay okay, I know August has been pretty abysmal in the UK so far, but SUMMER ISN’T OVER YET PEOPLE. And let’s face it, August tends to be a wash out but September is usually pretty nice. So keep the summer dresses around for a little while longer I say.

(Although, I admit I’m looking forward to ankle boots and chunky scarves and jumpers. But don’t tell anyone because this post is about summer dresses, yeah?)

You remember I discovered Joanie earlier this year? (See this cute jumper & palazzo pants combo I wore in NYC!) Well I’ve been a little obsessed since then. With their vintage silhouettes and cute slogan tees, they’re right up my street. So I figured I’d share a couple of Joanie summer dresses that I just can’t get enough of right now!

And the best part is that they’re both on sale. What are the chances?

Joanie Dylan Stripe Sun Dress

This cotton sun dress is one of my faves at the moment. It’s super versatile and comfy and looks nice styled up with accessories or real casual with trainers. I’m also considering wearing it with a t-shirt underneath on a cooler day. That’s my kind of summer dress. Easy to wear, ya feel?

In these photos I’ve accessorised the dress up with tan Topshop sandals, H&M gold earrings, a vintage skinny belt and some Joanie retro Carnaby sunglasses that I absolute ADORE. Seriously, how amazing are these sunnies?!

And like I said, the best part is that both the Dylan dress and Carnaby sunglasses are in the freaking sale!! Fly my pretties, fly!

Now, the second dress that I think is real cute is this green lacy number, also from Joanie of course. It’s a bit more dressy so I think I could get away with wearing it to a summer party or fancy BBQ and possibly even a wedding. But it’s not TOO fancy, you know?

Whenever I buy dresses to wear to weddings or fancy parties I end up never wearing them again. But this feels like the right level of smart/cash.

It’s lined with flesh-coloured silk so is real comfy too. The only problem I think I have is that the high waist seam cuts me off at a weird place so I look a bit wide… But I’ve only decided that after looking at the photos. At the time of wearing it, I felt really comfortable in it. Also, the high seam means it doesn’t cut into your stomach so it’s a great dress for pigging out at the buffet… Just saying.

Here I’ve styled it with my old faithful Skinnydip London rainbow bag and the same tan Topshop sandals. And guys, IT’S ALSO IN THE SALE.

I’m so impressed. I was literally writing this post just to show you the cute dresses and now everything’s in the sale and it’s bloody bargain central.
