Outfits On A Plane: Animal SS17

by

There are a lot of things to consider when choosing your plane outfit. Comfort and practicality being high on the list of priorities, but also, something you can be seen dead in the other side, you know? Otherwise let’s face it, we’d all fly in PJs. So this month I’ve discovered a colourful and fun plane outfit from surf brand Animal, that’s also super cosy.

I’ve never actually bought anything from Animal prior to this outfit but I love that surf brands always have such good quality in their products. These items are all super soft and feel like they would last through a long-term trip without getting damaged. So that’s a thumbs up already.

But the best thing about this Animal outfit is that you can wear all elements on your trip itself.

Because I’ve been known to wear joggers on the plane, then just carry them around for the whole trip, just to wear them on the way back. I think that’s acceptable if it’s a short trip but on longer term adventures you feel like you’re carrying around dead weight if you’re not going to wear any of it on your actual trip.

The Animal lemon yellow Roo Hoodie is super comfortable with a cute retro anchor badge and really soft brushed fleece on the inside. And not only is a hoodie perfect for a flight, but it’s also a must-have item for most trips. Even in warmer climates like Australia or Southeast Asia, a hoodie is invaluable for watching a sunset on the beach when it gets cooler or keeping warm when they pump out the air-con on overland journeys.

Underneath the hoodie, I’ve gone for an Animal grey vest with lacy back detail. Again this could easily go with a pair of denim shorts or palazzo pants for an easy outfit on your travels.

Finally, the bottoms are a pair of navy Animal Lili linen trousers with elastic paperbag waist. So that nothing’s cutting into your stomach when you’re attempting to sleep in weird positions on the plane, you know?

And again, linen trousers = the perfect addition to your travel wardrobe when you arrive. In fact, if you take off the hoodie and sub the pumps for some flat sandals, you have a fab outfit for wandering through a market in Greece or visiting temples in Bangkok (just add a scarf to cover your shoulders to be respectful, k?).

I definitely think it’s a massive benefit to have a plane outfit that translates into your travel wardrobe. If you can’t think where you’d wear it on your trip, you shouldn’t be bringing it with you, right? Plus I’m impressed with how durable these pieces are so I’ll definitely be looking at what else Animal have going on this year.

Oh and FYI, I’ve styled this outfit up with my new Skinny-dip London rainbow cross-body bag, coral Nike Cortez Trainers (Now only £45 in the ASOS sale, babes) and Jeepers Peepers pink sunglasses. Go colourful or go home, right?
