The Battle of Make Up Wipes vs. Cream Cleanser

by

Soap & Glory Off Your Face 3-in-1 Daily Purifying Cloths vs. Bee Good Honey & Propolis 2-in-1 Cream Cleanser

I’ve always used make-up wipes. Mainly because my skincare regime has predominantly revolved around putting in the least amount of effort possible and spending the maximum amount of time in bed in the mornings. But at the grand old age of 27, and with the beginnings of a scowl line in the middle of my forehead, I’ve realised I should probably be taking care of my skin a bit better.

So on the recommendation of a beauty blogger friend (check out Liz and Lipgloss!) who informed me that make up wipes massively dry out your skin, I’ve been trying out make-up removing cream cleanser instead!

I decided to go with the Bee Good Honey & Propolis 2-in-1 Cream Cleanser, mainly because I love the Bee Good Honey & Crambe Hand Cream, but also because it comes in a nifty 30ml travel size. And my multitask-loving soul is a sucker for anything that is marketed as 2-in-1.

The verdict? Well it was a lot easier than I thought. To apply the cream, you just rub into dry skin (including the eye area), run the accompanying muslin cloth under warm water and wipe away! I always imagined that with make-up removing creams you would have to burn through a whole load of cotton pads, but the muslin cloth is re-useable so minimal fuss.

It also left my skin feeling so much softer and more nourished than make-up wipes normally do. And also completely removed all of my eye make-up, which I was quite surprised at! I was certain there would be mascara residue without the abrasive scrubbing of a make-up wipe.

The cleanser also has anti-oxidants and is known to balance out problematic skin. Definitely handy when you’re visiting new climates that wreak havoc on your skin!

So why am I telling you about this discovery?

Well firstly because I can’t help myself. It is an integral part of my personality to tell everyone I meet about something new I’ve discovered. If you’ve met me, it’s likely I’ve told you about the miracle that is liquid lipstick, how incredible tubing in Laos is, or how cute my new fox salt and pepper shakers are.

But anyway I digress…

Picking your products before you go is a big deal. You need products that are going to do the job and make you feel good, as well as considering how practical they are, how long they’ll last, how much space they’ll take up in your backpack. So here’s the deal. Make-up Removing Wipes vs. Cream Cleanser… Go!

SKINCARE: The cleanser is the clear winner here. It made my skin feel so much nicer than wipes and will definitely be the product I use at home after this trial!

MULTI-TASKING: You always want products that are going to do more than one thing to minimise how many products you need to take. The Bee Good 2-in-1 Cream Cleanser both removes make-up and cleanses your skin. Tick. However, the Soap & Glory Off Your Face 3-in-1 Daily Purifying Cloths remove make-up, cleanse and tone. And apparently can act as an exfoliant if you apply some pressure. Bigger tick.

SPACE SAVING: The 25 wipes you get in the pack of Soap & Glory wipes last about the same time as the 30ml bottle of Bee Good Cream Cleanser (And this is just the travel-size!). The wipes take up so much more space in your luggage so the cream cleanser wins on this one.

PRACTICALITY: Both products have practical considerations. Wipes tend to dry out, especially if not sealed correctly, so I always find the last few in a pack a bit useless. With the cream cleanser you need to consider that you may have to soak the muslin cloth once a week to clean it, so a bit more upkeep on the road.

The result? The Bee Good Honey & Propolis 2-in-1 Cream Cleanser is the clear winner for me. The Soap & Glory Off Your Face 3-in-1 Daily Purifying Wipes are great and all, and were definitely a great contender, but I think the fact that the cleanser left my skin feeling nicer AND took up less space in my backpack wins it for me.

On my next trip I will be going for the full-sized duo pack rather than the 30ml travel size to last a few more months! You can get the Duo Pack which is made up of 2 x 100ml bottles and 2 x muslin cloths here for £19.50.

What do you think? Are you a lover of a good cream cleanser? Or do you love the low maintenance of a make-up wipe?
